Lizzie and Kate enjoying the carpet buying experience. Can, pronounced "John", was a carpet selling pro.
Sarah and I enjoying tea (notice - pinkies are out) on our new carpet. The carpet buying process in fascinating. They take you in to their store - and offer you water, tea, beer, food, etc. Then, about 9 dudes start throwing carpets on the ground. You basically say yes or no. Then, you have about 30 on the ground, and you play process of elimination. We ended up with a cool one - 9x6 - from the city of Konya - home of the Whirling Dirvishes. It was a dowry rug. A woman hand made it, and it was part of her dowry when she married. However, her husband didn't exactly kill it in his business, so they had to sell the rug for some cash. Now - it goes with Sarah and I. Sad story, I know, but a cool rug.
