Turkish Bath

On the afternoon of our last full day in Istanbul, we all went to Cagaloglu Hamami for Turkish Baths. What an absurd event. It is entirely sectioned off between men and women, so I basically said by to the girls for about 2 hours. So my guy there - Amoosh - sent me to this little closet where I stored my clothes and came out in just my towel. He took me to this huge domed steam room, where I just sat there for 15 minutes. It was pretty hot in there, and other men, some tourists, some locals, were sitting by little fountains pouring hot water on themselves by using what looked like doggy bowl and grabbing water out of the fountains. I followed suit for about 10 mintues. It was nice. Then, Amoosh came back and said - "You ready to fly?"
He laid me down on this huge stone and started giving me an incredibly intense masage. It felt awesome. Mind you, I'm in a soaking wet towel that is essentially lying next to me. Amoosh is also in a towel. 1 naked guy giving another guy a masage.
After the massage, we went back to the fountain where he started pouring more water on me. Then, he got the scrubber out - feels like steel wool - and went all over my body scrubbing. He kept saying "Too many dirty", but I'm not sure if he appreciated the irony of that while we were both essentially naked. After scrubbing away - and removing a considerable amount of my skin - he laid me back down and started pouring soap all over me. Then it was a bath / massage for awhile. I was in heaven. It felt so freaking amazing. Just when it was getting too hot, Amoosh would throw cool water on me. Obviously - Amoosh is good at his job.
Anyway, after Amoosh was done, I sat there using the doggy bowl and continued to poor water on me for about 20 minutes. Then I got dressed - felt as clean as ever - and met back up with the girls. Thankfully for all, no photos were taken. Here is a pre-shot of the girls. Also - Kate Moss did a photo shoot in the same bath I was bathed in. Lets just say that the naked Turkish guys looked a little different. Google Kate Mosh Turkish Bath if you want to see.
